Hispanic Heritage Month 9/15-10/15

GBE's very own Mrs. Tiner /5th gr., Mrs. Bowring /4th gr., and Mrs. Jones /KG recently attended the Florida Purple Star Teacher Leadership Program, where they developed the knowledge, skills, and networks to improve student outcomes in classrooms beyond their own.
This unique FL program focuses on creating a pathway for military veterans to become highly effective teachers. They were trained on harnessing veterans’ transferable skills such as leadership, dedication to public service, and collaboration to best serve the students in the community.
With these new skills, they are ready and eager to welcome veterans new to the profession and support them as they begin their new journey in education. Gulf Breeze schools are part of a proud military community and this program will help foster stronger connections and support military families, while also enriching the educational experience for all students. This new knowledge is especially meaningful for these teachers, as it gives them an opportunity to serve those who have sacrificed so much for our country.

You already know this, but... GBE is proud to share that our teachers are absolute Rock Stars!!!
5th grade teacher, Mrs. Weaver and 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Johnson, were recently selected by the Florida Department of Education to serve on the Item Writing and Review Committee for the state’s FAST Math assessments in grades 3–5, and PK-2!
They wrote and reviewed new test questions to ensure they met benchmark standards. Mrs. Weaver and Mrs. Johnson gained valuable insight into how test questions are created and how they assess student learning at different levels of difficulty. They are excited to bring this knowledge back to the classroom to strengthen math instruction and support all of our students in their success.
