🚴‍♂️🎉 Bike Fest 2025 rolled through Gulf Breeze Elementary today! 🎉🚴‍♀️ Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders pedaled into a day of fun and safety at our annual Bike Fest, proudly hosted by the GBES PE Department and PTA! 🛞💙 THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS! Students brought their bikes and participated in exciting on-campus activities—from zig-zag courses and figure 8s to balance beams and slow races—designed to boost their biking skills and confidence. 🌀🚦 We were also thrilled to welcome Ride MORE Bike Shop, who provided free bike checks and helmet fittings to keep our young riders safe and ready to roll! 🛠️🪖 📍 Activities took place on the PE field and 4th grade parking lot. We were so blessed that we didn't need to use our Rain date!!! Thanks to everyone who made today a wheelie great success! 🌟 #GBESBikeFest #PedalPower #SafetyFirst #GulfBreezeElementary #WE🩷CoacNic&CoachRinker&Coach🐯

October is National Bullying Prevention Month **** I’d like to re-name this a BE KIND MONTH - PLEASE CONSIDER THE WORD "BULLY" BEFORE USING. ****

  • Our teachers and staff, along with Ms. Lowry, our school's guidance counselor, and Mrs. Lewter and I continually focus on Bullying Prevention and Being Kind to Others.

  • We discuss how bullying is different from the other types of unkind and "not nice" behavior. It is important to refrain from automatically labeling something as “bullying.”

  • We always celebrate the many ways there are to be kind to their classmates, such as: Saying kind words, including everyone in games and activities, helping someone who is feeling left out.

  • We're so proud of our GBE students, staff and parents who show us every day that it's best to #choosekind & #kindnesscounts

Here is an excerpt from an article entitled "What Is Bullying? (And What It Isn't)"
    https://www.weareteachers.com/what-is-bullying/

“A recent conversation in the WeAreTeachers Principal Life group on Facebook raised an important question: What is bullying, exactly? And just as importantly, what isn’t bullying?

“Very tired of parents using the words ‘bullying’ and ‘violence’ in elementary school. We are talking accidental bumps in play and minor classroom conflicts,” one school administrator shared. “I have only seen true bullying behaviors three times in 20 years of teaching and leading in schools. How do we help parents move from reacting off the rails to curiosity and collaboration?”
Many other educators reported having the same experience. And since lots of schools have strict anti-bullying programs in place, a report of “bullying” can set off a whole chain of investigation. While teachers and administrators definitely want to be sure they’re helping identify and end true bullying, they worry that overuse of the word will cause it to lose meaning, and real bullies will slip through the cracks."

🦇 Today our Kindergarten classroom turned into a real bat cave! Students explored bats through cross-curricular activities — using highlighters as glow markers for sequencing, reading by flashlight in the “cave,” and enjoying hands-on science, math, and literacy challenges. What a fun (and glowing!) way to enjoy learning together. 🦇

Spooky Bedtime Stories Weaves Music and Literacy Together

The sounds of music and the spirit of Autumn filled the Gulf Breeze Elementary Cafeteria on October 15, 2025, as our first-grade class performed their show, "Spooky Bedtime Stories."

This cross-curricular production was a powerful demonstration of how music and literacy successfully intersect. Students not only learned to sing and dance to pieces like "One Little Pumpkin," "Dem Bones," and "Pumpkin Bones," but also developed key memorization and public speaking skills through spoken pieces like the poem "5 Little Pumpkins." The students' commitment and energy made the performance a glowing success for all involved.
